Job Description:
Under general direction of the ship's Captain, assumes complete charge of the engineering plant of a seagoing research vessel. Responsible for the effective/safe operation of all ship's engineering equipment;routine maintenance and sea repair of installed ship's engineering equipment. Monitors the performance of assigned engineering personnel.
Possession of USCG Marine Engineering license for Chief Engineer (6000 HP) of motor vessels, STCW95 certificate and Lifeboart endorsement. Ability to pass a physical with company doctor. Possession of US Passport. Comply with USCG (DOT) Regulations for Chemical Drug and Alcohol testing. Ability and willingness to go to sea for extended periods of time.
